Advocacy

Read Better Be Better is committed to ensuring that a high-quality education is accessible to all students, focusing on the importance of 3rd-grade literacy as a foundation for equity and social justice.

Advocacy is our approach to ensure that Arizona’s education system is structured in such a way that all students can access the tools and relationships they need to read at 3rd grade.

RBBB has prioritized the implementation of 4 key strategies to achieve that goal:

  1. Advocate for all students to be instructed with Science of Reading-aligned reading curriculum

  2. Support Youth Leaders on a pathway to the education profession, with an understanding of the importance of literacy on this journey

  3. Empower and encourage Youth Leaders to use their voices to advocate for themselves and their communities
    • Educate and inform about the importance of 3rd grade literacy as a foundational skill
    • Educate and inform about the Arizona education system
    • Connect to decision-makers to share their insight and expertise

  4. Caregivers and volunteers are activated and informed to demand equitable access to foundational skills for their families and their communities
    • Educate and inform about the importance of 3rd grade literacy as a foundational skill
    • Educate and inform about the Arizona education system
    • Connect to decision-makers to share their insight and expertise
